The Trustee Board of Catholic Super formulates and approves an investment strategy for the overall Fund.
The Investment Management Group has delegated responsibilities to implement the investment strategies adopted by the Board. In particular:
- Asset Allocation within the agreed ranges;
- Appointment and termination of Investment Managers;
- Review of Investment Manager strategies to be applied within each asset class;
- Consideration of potential investment opportunities;
- Allocation of funds between Investment Managers; and
- Movements regarding strategic currency hedging within the agreed ranges.
The Investment Management Group makes recommendations and provides advice to the Trustee Board on:
- Maintenance of the Fund’s Investment Policy and Strategy
- Review of asset allocation, ensuring consistency with the Investment Strategy;
- Review of Member Investment Choice Options; and
- Appointment and monitoring of the Asset Consultant
The Investment Management Group meets monthly to discuss a range of investment issues relating to the Fund strategy and performance of the Options and underlying Investment Managers. In reviewing and monitoring, the Investment Management Group:
- Reviews monthly and quarterly reports issued by Investment Managers
- Performs Investment Manager visits to meet the staff, view the process and access the systems used by the Manager
- Invites Investment Managers to regularly present to the Group as well as the Trustee Board
