2007 / 2008 Investment Returns - Super & Pension
August 2008
Financial markets continue to be extraordinarily volatile and unfortunately superannuation funds have not been immune, showing a decline in their performance for the 2007/2008 financial year returns.
While we would have far preferred these shorter term returns to be positive, our major focus remains on longer term returns. These are the ones that really matter when it comes to accumulating meaningful retirement benefits for members.
Catholic Super’s returns have remained highly competitive over the longer term, with our Balanced option returning 10.78% over the 5 years to 30 June 2008, in comparison to the median of 9.44% over 5 years to that date*. For the Pension Balanced option this has returned 11.43% over the 5 years to 30 June 2008, in comparison to the median of 9.57% over 5 years to that date*.
While market uncertainty remains for the time being, Catholic Super will always continue to work hard to deliver the best outcome for members.
